Police target Super Bowl drinking, AAA offers Tipsy Tow

Posted: Updated:

Fans don't let fans drive drunk.

That's the message the Ohio State Highway Patrol wants to get out for Super Bowl Sunday.

This weekend more than 99 local law enforcement agencies across the state will have extra eyes and ears on the road.

Last year on Super Bowl Sunday, The State Highway Patrol arrested 63 people for operating a vehicle while impaired in a 24-hour stretch.

There were 209 traffic crashes that day, and three of them were fatal.

Troopers say that if you're throwing a game party, make sure to only serve alcohol to guests old enough to drink, offer to let anyone who might have had too much to drink stay over or make sure there's a sober person to take them home.

AAA of Northwest Ohio is also offering to help out if you've had one too many with Tipsy Tow. If you've had too much to drink between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday - you can call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357).
