For the fourth time this year, Bowling Green freshman swimmer Victoria Griffin was named the Mid-American Conference's Swimmer of the Week. It marks the second time in the past three weeks that she has earned the honor.
Griffin won two individual events and swam as part of a victorious 200 freestyle relay team as Bowling Green beat Ohio 155-138 Friday. She added another individual win and a relay victory in the Falcons' 164-94 dismantling of Marshall Saturday that extended the team's dual meet winning streak to four – the longest in the program in 12 years.
In Friday's MAC win over Ohio, Griffin won the 100 freestyle in 50.62 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:50.37. Both of those times were the best in the conference during the week. She also swam a leg of the 200 free relay that finished in 1:34.51. On Saturday, she moved over to the 50 freestyle, where she swam a 23.82 for first place, adding another win in the 200 free relay. Griffin added second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (at Ohio) and the 100 butterfly (at Marshall).
With the wins, Bowling Green improved to 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in MAC competition. The Falcons will host Youngstown State Saturday at 1 pm for Senior Day.
