The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian College guard Lauren Rhoads its Player of the Week in women's basketball for games played through February 1.
Rhoads, a senior from Howell (Howell HS), put together back-to-back career high performances in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of MIAA victories. She scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and added five rebounds and four assists in a 76-66 victory over Saint Mary's. She then fired in 26 points, including nine in the final three minutes, as the Bulldogs defeated Albion, 81-77. Rhoads, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career, shot 48 percent from the field (12-of-25), 41 percent on 3-point attempts (7-of-17) and 77 percent at the line (17-of-22) for the week.
