Independent snow plow drivers out in full force

Posted: Updated:

Independent snow plow drivers are out in full force tackling those parking lots.

"We got called out at 1:30 last night and I've been out here every since," said plow driver Joe Westhoven from Slurry Seal Toledo.

It's been a busy winter for independent snow plow drivers

"It's fairly good money but unfortunately in this kind of weather you end up breaking a lot of stuff because you can't see things so it's a lot of long hours," said Westhoven.

Employees with Slurry Seal Toledo say navigating the roadways today have been difficult

"I don't think anybody should be on the roadway. Going down there with these plows there's so much slush on it it's build up from the big plow trucks. They catch the blades and it wants to throw you all over the place," said Westhoven.

The plow drivers say they will keep going until the snow stops.0

"Its been a good season for pushing snow for everybody, but then you run into shortages with salt we can't get any salt and the customers want their parking lots salted and we don't have the salts. it's just a shortage," said Westhoven.

We've received some complaints from viewers who say some plow drivers are pushing the snow into the street and onto some sidewalks. According to Toledo municipal codes that's a crime and you could face a fine.
