Man dies after being hit by train

Posted: Updated:

A local man is dead after he was hit by a train in Seneca County.  It happened about 1:45 this afternoon near east county road 62 in Adams Township . The Seneca county sheriff's office says 34 year old Bryon Skeel of Clyde was walking on the tracks when an oncoming train hit him from behind.

Witnesses reported the train crew blew the horn,  but Skeel may not have heard it because of strong winds,  combined with the fact he was wearing ear buds ,  and a stocking hat at the time.

He died at the scene.
