"Fur Ball" raises thousands for Humane Society

Posted: Updated:

The Toledo Area Humane Society is celebrating 130 years in grand fashion.

The 2014 "Fur Ball" at the Pinnacle in Maumee brought in hundreds of animal lovers and thousands of dollars.

"It's one of our largest fundraisers," explained Danielle Jones, Director of Development with the Humane Society. "So, we really depend on this evening to help the animals in the community just like any other event that we have."

The organization set a goal to adopt out 130 pets, one for each year the society has been around.

During the black-tie optional gala, attendees got a chance to listen to a live musical performance by the Toledo Symphony Quartet.

There was also a silent auction, a live auction and a few furry friends.

13abc's Christina Williams and Tony Geftos were Co-M.C.s of the event.
