Rogers Two Goals Leads Toledo to a 4-3 Win in Cincinnati

Kyle Rogers scored his second goal of the game with a 1:50 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and lead Toledo to a 4-3 win in Cincinnati Friday night. Toledo has an overall record of 16-24-3-0 and is 7-13-3-0 on the road.


Kyle Rogers would get the scoring going with his 9th goal of the season at 9:13 of the first period. Cincinnati would counter with a pair of quick goals at 9:44 and 10:11 of the period to lead Toledo 2-1 after the first.


"The key tonight was smart, simple hockey," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We had another strong performance in this game and followed the game plan throughout. It was a very nice win for us tonight against a very good team."


Toledo would tie the game at two with a power play goal from David Gilbert; his 10th of the season. Max Shalunov fired the shot at 10:35 that Gilbert deflected past Cincinnati goaltender Rob Madore.

Aaron Bogosian would put Toledo in front 3-2 with a shorthanded goal at 3:55 of the third period; his 3rd of the season. The Cyclones would tie the game moments later. Kyle Rogers was able to dig out the puck at the side of the net and slam it in with 1:50 left in the game.


Walleye Notes:  Goaltender Mac Carruth made 23 saves on 26 shots in net for Toledo. Carruth has a record 8-10-0-0 on the season. Toledo is 2-4-1 against Cincinnati this season and 2-0-1 in Cincinnati.


Walleye Transaction: Prior to the game, Toledo signed forward John May. May appeared in 2 games earlier this season with Kalamazoo and has dressed in 29 games for the Walleye since the 2009-10 season.
