February 9, 2014
Due to a breakdown in contract negotiations between SJL Broadcasting and DirecTV, the current retransmission agreement between both entities is set to expire at 5 p.m. EST on Monday, February 10, 2014. If a new contract agreement is not reached by this date and time, 13abc will not be available on DirecTV. This will affect thousands of WTVG, 13abc, viewers in the Toledo, Ohio DMA who subscribe to DirecTV. We have found it necessary to alert all DirecTV viewers that they will likely need to find an alternative source to view our quality programming uninterrupted.
SJL Broadcasting is running the following crawl on 13abc to alert DirecTV subscribers of our impending deadline:
"ATTENTION DIRECTV SUBSCRIBERS! Effective February 10th there is a strong possibility that
13abc will NOT be seen on DIRECTV. In order to guarantee that you receive 13abc, you may
need to find an alternate source to view our signal. You can use an over the air antenna,
subscribe to another Satellite service or cable system. This is an alert for DIRECTV SUBSCRIBERS only!"
SJL Broadcasting provides some of the most quality and highest rated Network and syndicated
programming on television today, including Nashville, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, just to name a few. Our commitment to the local community is apparent not only through our highly rated local news, weather and sports, but also through the involvement with the Marathon Classic, Hope for the Holidays, 13abc All Stars and the NW Ohio Food Bank food drive. It is our hope that DirecTV will realize the value we bring to the local community and that together we can quickly reach an amicable agreement without a disruption of service.
