Adopt A Fire Hydrant

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters need your help to clear area fire hydrants.  The fire hydrants throughout the area are easily covered by snow and ice.  It's unavoidable.  The roads get plowed, and we desperately need that.  But the hydrants are buried in snow.  So if you drive by any of the Springfield Township Fire Stations, you'll see this plea to adopt a fire-hydrant.  They're asking residents who live by one, to do their best to keep it clear of snow.  The safety hazard is obvious as crews pull up to a structure fire and in some cases they would have to wade through about 3 feet of snow, only to have to shovel out the hydrant.  So if you get a chance, help them out!
