Snowmobile flips, ice fisherman hurt on Lake Erie

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. Coast Guard sent a fan boat across the icy shores of Lake Erie to retrieve a man who is injured after a snowmobile crash.

It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday off the coast of Crane Creek State Park.

Oregon firefighters tell 13abc, an ice fisherman was traveling on a snowmobile when he hit a dip in the ice and flipped.

Emergency personnel say the man hurt his back and did not move from the spot.

Medical units treated the man's injuries at the site of the crash and the Coast Guard later transported him back to shore.

Rescue crews say that so far, there haven't been too many accidents on the ice this winter.
