Tropical spot in Maumee

Posted: Updated:

A lot of you are probably looking for ways to escape the winter weather. If you can't head to a warmer climate there are some options that can help make it feel like summer right in our backyard. Maumee's Splash Bay water park is 80 degrees all the time.

While the wind continues to blow and the snow continues to pile up outside, in Maumee there's an indoor paradise that makes you feel like you're on a warm beach. Even if it's just for a few hours. Lindsey Birr came to Splash Bay with friends and family for the day, "I've got a baby at home too so anything that can get us out of the house and burn some energy is wonderful. We've had a lot of fun playing. She loves the slides and it's great to get out and do fun things that are not inside the house!"

Most of the people splashing around are from Michigan Indiana and Ohio but there were even some guests from Canada today. Ben Zimmerman and his younger brother loved their vacation, "This is a little better than school right? Yes much better, much better! I like going down the yellow slide with my brother on a two person raft. It goes fast but it's not too scary."

And if a two person raft slide isn't your thing, there are a lot of other things to keep you entertained. Jackie Zervos is the Water Park Manager, "We have 3 large slides, two of them are body slides one is an inner-tube slide. We have a lazy river an indoor/outdoor spa and a water basketball shot area. There's also a lily pad crossing, a dump bucket, spray cannon areas and two smaller slides for the smaller kids."

Of course winter is one of the busiest seasons for the water park and because of all the cold and snow this year business has been very good. And you don't have to stay at the hotel you can also get a half or full day pass just for the water park.
