Tishina Newell woke up Thursday morning to find a large, gaping hold in the ceiling of her daughter's bedroom in her apartment at the Riviera Maia Apartments in Toledo.

Heavy rains and melting snow finally took their toll on the building.

According to Tishina, "There was water pouting from the ceiling, I called the maintenance and told them there was an emergency. My ceiling is falling in!"

She says snow has been sitting on top of their building for months and after a heavy rain, the roof finally caved in.. "How am I supposed to live here with a hole in my daughter's bedroom until spring?"

Her daughter, Skye Jackson says, "It's really depressing because I like my own space. I like my room. I loved my bed and now I don't have my bed."

Skye was lucky. Her bed used to be directly under where the ceiling collapsed.

"I mean it would have been all over my face!" She said.

Tishina says more than four buckets have already filled with the leaking water and that living conditions in the apartment are becoming unbearable.

Sky agrees "It smells like a putrid moldy smell, it's really bad."

Other Riviera Maia units were also affected.

Tishina says management has done little to fix the problem. "They said that they would be over here to fix the problem. They have done nothing. It makes me feel really upset because I have been here, I have paid my money and I am always on time. They should do something better than what they are doing."

13abc reached out to the apartment managers, but they were unavailable for comment.
