Lawmakers say bill would help revitalize American manufacturing

Posted: Updated:

A New York lawmaker says he thinks he has a way to encourage more manufacturing jobs in America. He's written a bill that's garnered the support of the President and other lawmakers.

Congressman Tom Reed says the proposed bill will position the U.S. for a manufacturing rebirth.

The RAMI or Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act would provide funding for workforce training and funds for manufacturers.

Reed says it's getting a lot of support. "It shows me there is a path to the finish line. We're just educating our fellow members on it in the House and working on the Senate."

He says the priority is to produce workers that have the skill sets to make it here, sell it here.

Federal funds have already been set aside for this fiscal year to implement and maintain RAMI initiatives. Co-sponsors continue to gather support for the bill because they say it could mean the creation of tens of thousands of jobs in the very near future.
