Man faces fifth drunken driving charge in 2 years

Posted: Updated:

GOBLES, Mich. (AP) - A 28-year-old Kalamazoo man faces his fifth drunken driving charge in two years.

The Van Buren County sheriff's office says Saturday that a deputy saw the man's vehicle stopped Friday evening in the middle of an intersection at a yellow caution light in Gobles, about 40 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.

The deputy later determined the man to be intoxicated and found a 4-year-old girl in the car. The girl's mother was called to the traffic stop to pick her up.

A breath test determined the driver was more than twice the legal alcohol consumption limit. He is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, child endangerment and driving on a restricted license.

His name was not released.
