Conservative candidates meet with supporters

Posted: Updated:

Several conservative political candidates met with supporters on Sunday at a fundraiser at Manhattan's Restaurant in Toledo.

Organizer John Mcavoy said, "We're seeing a very positive reaction from both the community and our constituents and they're very happy to see that people are starting to stand up and take responsibility for a lot of things that we see going on."

Scott Allegrini, the candidate for Ohio State Representative in District 47 said, "It has been amazing. The experience and the people I've met. A lot of great people and they've been really fired up and really wanting to see someone take on Ms. Sears."

Republican Barbara Sears is being challenged from the right in the party primary.

The candidates discussed reform and said that political reform must begin at a local level.

Backers of a constitutional amendment guaranteeing certain voting rights in Ohio have failed to collect enough signatures to put it on this fall's ballot. Supporters of the proposed "Ohio Voters Bill of Rights" say their goal now is to place it before voters in 2015. They are vowing to keep the issue on Ohioans' minds.
