Michigan roads in need of repair

Posted: Updated:

The Monroe County Road Commission is fighting an uphill battle.

Anytime there is a break in the weather, crews are out in full force trying to fill problem spots across the county, but it's tough.

"Just driving down the road, it's horrible," Amanda Oloshove, a Bedford Township driver said.

The reality is, roads are in need of repair over the state line.

"I've never seen it this bad," Patrick Garrow, who lives in Bedford Township told 13abc.

This year's harsh winter has caused some major damage.

The road commission is trying to stay on top of the growing problem, but it isn't easy when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate.

"It's very frustrating," Oloshove said.

Her car is one of many that's fallen victim to potholes.  Just last week, her tire burst on St. Anthony Rd.

"It was all the way to the rim," she said.

Patrick Garrow has also experienced damage on several vehicles.

"A spring shackle, a shock absorber, a tie rod and two flat tires."

Road commission leaders say the conditions went down hill fast.

Even though crews are working overtime, it's only a temporary fix.

And it will take a lot more to repair some of the county's most beat up highways and byways.
