Garage door openers recalled due to fire hazard

Posted: Updated:

A popular brand is recalling thousands of garage door openers.

The recall is for some models of the Genie Powermax and Pro garage door openers. Turns out, they could overheat and cause your house to catch on fire.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall due to an overheating issue.

Here are the models affected:

The Genie Powermax and Genie Pro TriloG 1200 and 1500 models.

Nearly 10,000 units are affected by the recall. So far, there have been four reports of the units overheating.

If you have one of these, stop using the opener, unplug it and contact the company at 1-800-488-9918 from 9am-5pm for a free repair kit.
