Posted: Updated:

CINCINNATI (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old Cincinnati boy playing with a gun that he and his two brothers thought was a BB gun has been shot in the chest and killed.

Cincinnati Police Lt. Don Luck says that the three boys were visiting an uncle when one pulled the trigger of a handgun that they thought was a BB gun and hit Sammy Lorenzo in the chest around 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

Sammy was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital and rushed into surgery, but later died.

Luck says that no charges are expected against the children.

Police say an adult was in the home at the time of the shooting and a handgun was found.
