Another wave of snow brings on slick roads

Posted: Updated:

Just a few hours after the first snowfall the roads have become a challenge. Accidents are up and Toledo Police are now operating under Phase Two, responding to only injury accidents and accidents blocking traffic.

But plows are out doing all they can do.

Toledo's street department is stocked with salt and ready to go. The snowy start of March will only add to our record breaking Winter.

The night started off with freezing drizzle then snow, making area roadways pretty slick.

"It's pretty slick. Underneath the snow is a sheet of ice," said Toledo driver, Marquice Robinson. "I've got kids in the car so yeah I'm tired of all this snow."

ODOT has more than 100 plows across their eight-county district in Northwest Ohio working non-stop until the snow storm is over.

An ODOT spokesperson, Theresa Pollick says plows will continue plow until the snow stops, then they will salt afterwards. It's a way they're conserving their salt supply.

Drivers are being asked to watch their speed and give plow drivers room to do their job.
