Help still available to sign up for insurance

Posted: Updated:

Representatives from the Neighborhood Health Association were on hand at two local libraries are offering help in signing up for federal healthcare coverage.

They say they helped about 70 Toledoans apply online. there are only four weeks left until the March 31st deadline. After that, the uninsured will face a $95 penalty for adults and $47.50 penalty for kids or 1% of their income for not signing up. Those without insurance will pay whichever amount is higher.

The "navigators" were on hand at both the Mott and Kent Branch Libraries to encourage sign-up.

Andrea Vasquez from the NAH said, "They're more worried about the cost. A lot of People aren't educated about the tax credit and also the cost-reduction that comes along with it for some people. "So it's really important enough to get in and look in search through. If it takes multiple sessions no that's fine with us."

The NAH says it is always available to answer any questions. Learn more at their website: http://www.nhainc.org/.
