Juniors Jehvon Clarke and Richaun Holmes were both named to the Madness 2013-2014 Mid-American All-Conference Third-Team by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com) it was announced on Sunday morning, March 9.
Clarke, who started at the point guard spot for the Falcons in all 31 regular season games this season, averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contests. Clarke leads the team in both assists (147) and minutes played this season (1123), while he is also second on the squad in steals (59) and third in points (384).
Heading into the MAC Championship Tournament this week, Clarke leads the league in minutes played on the year at 36.2 minutes per contest. He also ranks in the top-five in the MAC in both assists (4.7) and steals (1.9) on the year.
Holmes leads the Falcons with 13.4 points and has registered a new BGSU single-season record 86 blocks on the season. The 6-8 junior, who has started 30 contests this season for the Falcons, is second on the team with 7.5 rebounds per contest and is first on the team in both field goal percentage (51.4 percent) and free throw percentage (70.9 percent).
The forward has totaled five 20 plus point games this season and has registered seven double-doubles on the year. In only two short seasons at BGSU, Holmes has tied Otis Polk for the most career blocks in BGSU history with 159 career rejections.
Entering the MAC Championship Tournament on March 10, Holmes is second in the MAC in blocked shots (2.8), sixth in rebounding (7.5), 10th in field goal percentage (51.4 percent) and 12th in scoring (13.4).
The Falcons (12-19, 6-12 MAC) will open up the 2014 MAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament on Monday, March 10, at No. 7 Northern Illinois at 8 p.m. ET in DeKalb, Ill.
