Toledo closed out the Rio Verde Invitational on Sunday afternoon with its best round of the tournament to register a solid third-place showing. UT finished 14 strokes behind first-place Xavier (303-298-299=900) and nine shots behind second-place Montana (298-306-301=905)with a 62-over par 914 (308-304-302) and ahead of each of the seven other Mid-American Conference schools competing in the event.
Sophomore Sathika Ruenreong and junior Jennifer Elsholz posted Top 10 finishes to pace the Rockets. Ruenreong tied for fifth place with a 10-over par 223 (74-75-74), while Elsholz tied for ninth place at 12-over par 225 (75-75-75). Montana's Tara Green captured medalist honors at six-over par 219 (72-76-71).
Senior Kate Hoops fired Toledo's best round of the day with a two-over par 73 to finish tied for 28th place at 19-over par 232 (81-78-73). Rounding out the Rocket lineup was sophomore Manisa Isavas (T-49th/81-76-80=237) and junior Stephanie St-Jean (T-57th/78-82-80=240). Sophomore Morgan Salm competed as an individual and tied for 41st place at 22-over par 235 (77-81-77).
Toledo returns to action with a trip to the Ocala (FL) Invitational for a second-straight year on Sunday-Tuesday, March 23-25.
