Teen thrown from car, killed after hitting tree

Posted: Updated:

A teenager was killed after being thrown from her car in an accident on Richards on Sunday evening.

Police say 18-year-old Theresa Brazzel was driving at a high rate of speed when she drove off the right side of Richards and struck a tree.

The vehicle spun at least twice and Brazzel, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from her vehicle. She landed in the intersection of Richards and Amsterdam. Her vehicle struck a telephone pole.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and then transported to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead from multiple traumatic injuries.
