Snow days give local daycares a boost

Posted: Updated:

Plow drivers are not the only ones who benefit from our winter storms. A local *drop in* day care center has seen a major boost in business from parents who are scrambling to get to work.

When students get a snow day from school many parents are turning to Kidz Watch for relief.

Kaylene Launder is an administrator. She tells 13 ABC, "For the most part they are just panicked that they are going to lose their jobs or that they are going to lose hours."

Kidz Watch is located in Sylvania and Perrysburg. The daycare provides the flexibility of drop in care at a moments notice if you enroll ahead of time. Launder's tells 13 ABC,

"they don't have time to call off from work anymore so they call at 6 o'clock and ask if they can drop off."

Kidz Watch was established in 2002 to give parents a new option in the rigid child care market.

It offer preschool and learning activities to keep the kids engaged no matter the age.

It's been a life saver for some working parents this winter and the weather has given the business a major boost.

Launders tells 13 ABC,

"In the 6 years I have worked here we have not had this much cancellation and having to rearrange schedules for the school ages."

Kidz Watch is open Monday through Thursday from 6 am -11pm.

Friday and Saturday from 6-midnight. Ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
