Meet half of the "Million Dollar Quartet"

Posted: Updated:

If you think this guy looks, sounds and moves like Elvis, that's the idea.

He's channeling The King for the Tony Award winning musical "Million Dollar Quartet."

The touring show stops at The Stranahan this weekend.

"I barely even listened to Elvis, to be honest," says Robby Kipfer, who portrays a young Mr. Presley. "I knew, like, his really popular songs like, "Hound Dog" and "Blue Christmas" or whatever. Anyway, when I got the audition, it was a blast to go and study up and learn about him. I'm really glad I got the role because now I am an Elvis fan."

It's not just Elvis.

There's Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.

"They're big shoes to fill," adds Andrew Frace, who plays the Man in Black, "and everybody has a perception of who these people were and who they are and we're just trying to do our best to show what they might have been like in 1956, when they were still kind of on the brink of becoming these Rock and Roll legends."

The musical chronicles an actual recording session at the fabled Sun Records studio, and these actors are actually playing their instruments as they belt out familiar tunes.

You have four chances to catch "Million Dollar Quartet" this weekend.

Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
