DC falls 20-4 to the Scots from Alma

Posted: Updated:

Four Yellow Jackets get into the scoring column in their game against the Alma Scots.  The Scots were able to get the victory, though, with a score of 20-4.

The Yellow Jackets (1-5) could not slow down the Scots (5-4) offense on a cold, snowy day in Alma, Mich.  The score was 15-2 at half as DC fell victim to several early goals from Alma.

After two Alma scores, JoNae Apps (Wild Rose, Wis. / Wild Rose) was able to put DC on the scoreboard with a goal at the 26:16 mark.  The goal was Apps second goal of the season, making her the third Yellow Jacket with multiple goals this season.  The score would stand at 2-1 after Apps' goal.

The Scots would then go on a 10-0 run before Parker Smith (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) would score her 10th goal on the season.  Smith continued her great start to her career, with the score she remains the only Yellow Jacket in history to score a goal in each of her first six games.  The lead would be cut to 12-2 at that point.

Down by a count of 15-2 at half, DC would take the offensive early in the second half.  A pair of goals from Nicole Baseley (Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove) and Katelin Patchin (Farmington, Ohio / Bristol Local) would cut the Scots lead to 11.  It would be Baseley's fourth goal of the season.  With the fourth and final goal of the game for the Yellow Jackets, Patchin's goal would mark the first of her career.

Alma would go on to score the final five goals on the day, bringing the score to the final 20-4 count.

DC made the most of its shots on goal, having four of the six find the back of the net.

Apps and Smith both had two shots on goal apiece.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday, March 26.  They will travel to Angola, Ind. to play against Trine.
