The men's lacrosse team made it four straight on Saturday at Brockport State with a 9-5 win over head coach Don LaSala's alma mater. The Bulldogs pitched a shutout in the first half leading 4-0 at the break. The teams each scored five times in the second half as Adrian improved to 4-1 overall.
The Bulldogs conquered the Golden Eagles but not in terms of face-offs as the home team had a remarkable 16-of-18 edge in that category. It was even more impressive that the Bulldogs won the game as Brockport also had a 32-24 edge in shots. The Bulldogs cashed in on 2-of-6 in extra-man chances while the Golden Eagles were 1-of-5.
Eric Fannell and Mitch Burgin scored in the first quarter with Burgin's goal at 5:09 coming with a man up. Tom Thielman added to the lead in the second quarter at 9:26 and then Burgin again with a man up goal with 32 seconds left in the quarter.
Burgin made it three in the game at 13:31 of the third from Drake Dailey-Chwalibog to make it 5-0. The Golden Eagles would score twice in the third but Fannell and Thielman also posted goals for a 7-2 lead after three quarters. Brockport State made it interesting with three straight goals in the fourth in the first 2:07 as John Countryman scored twice. The Bulldogs kept Brockport State off the board over the final 12:53 and put it away at 2:36 with a goal by A.J. Smith and 1:02 with a goal by Doug Boyd.
Kevin Lerg made seven saves in net for the Bulldogs and Nicholas Frontczak and Burgin led the team with four ground balls.
