Schools using Blizzard Bags to make up Calamity Days

Posted: Updated:

Perrysburg students will get 2 days worth of Blizzard Bags tomorrow.

It's just one of two ways the district will be making up snow days. like so many other schools in our area.

The Perrysburg school district will use 2 blizzard bags and students will make up 2 days.

Anthony Wayne Schools will utilize online assignments and blizzard bags to make up 13 calamity days.

The last day of instruction will remain June 4th.

Sylvania schools will extend class time for an hour after spring break for 11 days and convert a professional development day to make up more than a dozen calamity days.

Superintendent Brad Rieger tells 13 ABC, "every school district has faced it and we went about it by focusing on how we could get instruction time back."

Last week the Oregon School Board approved a contingency plan to make up 17 snow days. Oregon Superintendent Dr. Lonny Rivera tells 13 ABC,

"what we're looking to do is add a half hour to the school day for the high school junior high and middle school we're going to add a half hour to the end of the day."

The plan also applies to elementary schools.

Except-- students will come in 15 minutes earlier and leave 15 minutes later.

Toledo Public Schools will also use blizzard bags to make up for lost classroom time as well.

Students who have blizzard bags will have two weeks to complete them...that way they can have more downtime during their spring break.
