Little boy with big heart donates to Nature's Nursery

Posted: Updated:

March 27th is Alexander White's birthday.

Thursday, he turned 7.  But he didn't celebrate the traditional way.

"I knew Nature's Nursery couldn't keep all the animals alive without all the supplies, so, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give them some help by giving them supplies," White said.

Alexander didn't ask for birthday gifts this year.

Instead, his friends and family bought items for the animals at Nature's Nursery.

Everything from food and bedding, to gift cards and toys.

"All the things we need," Candee Ellsworth, Executive Director of Nature's Nursery said.  "It takes a lot to not only house the animals, but to feed them and care for them and provide medical care for them."

Ellsworth says it's been a tough winter.

About 6-% of the animals they take in are released back into the wild, but the bitter cold and heavy snow has forced some to stay a little bit longer than planned.

"We can't just put an animal out right before a storm or release it before it's going to be 10 below," Ellsworth said.

She says each contribution is special and greatly appreciated.

She calls Alexander's "simply amazing."

"To genuinely be worried about animals welfare, making sure they have what they need and we have what we need to care for them, means the world."

For Alexander, it was no trouble, and something he'd like to do again and again.

Nature's Nursery is always in need of donations.  Click here if you'd like to help.
