Smith's big day not enough for the Yellow Jackets

DC falls to Hope College 16-8 after big first half for the home team.  Hope was able to score nine first half goals which the Yellow Jackets could not recover from.

Hope would come out and score the first four goals of the game.  Freshman Parker Smith (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) would then get things going for DC.  Smith would score her first of four goals on the day at the 20:32 mark in the first half.  It would come from a free position.

Another free position shot opportunity came for DC under two minutes later.  Alicia Cater (Wooster, Ohio / Wooster) would make the most of the opportunity, scoring her third goal of the season.  The lead at that point would be cut to two.

Hope would extend its lead to 6-2 until the eight minute mark.  Jacqueline Burns (Rossford, Ohio / Notre Dame Academy) would score one for the Yellow Jackets making the score 6-3 in favor of Hope.

Hope would close out the half scoring the next three goals and sport a commanding 9-3 halftime lead.

Carter would strike first in the second half.  She scored her second goal of the game and brought the score to 9-4.

Smith would then go on her fury.  She scored the next three goals for the Yellow Jacket.  After her third goal the score stood at 14-7 in favor of Hope.

DC's goals were finished by one last goal from Erica King (Pettisville, Ohio / Pettisville).  King scored her first goal of the season off a free position shot.

Galysa Ratterman (Marion, Ohio / Ridgedale) had a big day in goal for the Yellow Jackets.  She saved a season high 14 shots.

DC will be back in action on Thursday, April 3.  Game time is set to begin at 5 p.m. at Otterbein.
