Lourdes posted just its second shutout victory in school history with a 1-0 win in game one of Sunday afternoon's doubleheader against Rochester (Mich.), but the Warriors scored three times in the seventh of game two to earn a 5-4 victory in game two of the twinbill at Mercy Field.

Kyle Vandecaveye (Ida, Mich./Ida H.S.) and Matt Olsavsky (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) combined on the five-hit shutout in the opener.  Vandecaveye went the first four innings while Olsavsky earned the win (1-0), giving up just two hits and striking out three in three innings of work.

Alex Riopelle went the distance in the loss (0-2) for Rochester, striking out six and allowing just five hits.  Lourdes pushed the game's lone run across the plate in the fifth though.  Nate Snow (Tucson, Ariz./Palo Verde H.S.) led off with a walk and Nick Mazgay (Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg H.S.) pinch ran.  Kyle Sherman (Collierville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) followed with a single before Jake Conklin (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) delivered a run-scoring hit to right-center.

Lourdes struck first in game two as well as Sam Jerome (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) drew a bases loaded walk in the second to plate Andy Kefalos (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.).  The Warriors answered with two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-1 advantage, which they kept until the fourth.

Kefalos led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a one-out single by Jerome which tied the game.  The game stayed tied until the sixth when John Crooks (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills H.S.) hit a two-run home run to right, his first round-tripper of the season.

Rochester (7-8) won the game in the seventh with three runs, two of which were unearned.  Blake German delivered the game-winning hit, a two-out single to right-center.

Both teams managed just six hits in the nightcap, with Kefalos being the only Gray Wolf with two hits on the day.

Scott Kunert earned the win (3-1) for the Warriors, tossing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.  Ryan Veres (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) suffered the loss (0-2) for Lourdes.

Having concluded an 11-game homestand, Lourdes (3-16) will return to the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Lima, Ohio for a doubleheader against Northwestern Ohio.  First pitch of game one is slated for 2 p.m.
