Lourdes University's Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) and Connor Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) have been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively after leading the Gray Wolves to a pair of wins last week.
Bichsel, who earned his second straight Offensive Player of the Week honor, scored 10 times and added an assist for an 11-point week. He also picked up five ground balls and had 27 shot attempts, 17 of which were on goal. He scored five times on Wednesday in an 11-2 victory at Siena Heights. Bichsel then tallied five more goals along with handing out an assist on Saturday in an 18-10 triumph at Aquinas.
Mishler earned the win in goal in both contests for the Gray Wolves. He made 15 saves on 17 shots against Siena Heights and had 10 more stops against Aquinas, giving him a .676 save percentage for the week. This is Mishler's first WHAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
On the season Bichsel leads the team with 36 goals and 94 shot attempts, and is second on the team with 46 points. Mishler has posted a 5.67 goals against average on the year and a .605 save percentage.
Lourdes (7-0), ranked 20th in the nation in the latest CCLA Division II poll, puts its perfect mark on the line Wednesday evening, hosting Lawrence Tech. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Ottawa Hills High School.
