Local runners train for Boston Marathon

Posted: Updated:

Many local runners will forever remember last years Boston Marathon.

A day that was supposed to be full of excitement turned tragic, when two bombs went off, killing 3 people and injuring hundreds more.

"I caught up with a couple of buddies and we were down a few blocks away when this all happened," Tom Silva a local runner said remembering the race.

"I finished with a time I was happy with and ended up around the block from where the finish line was and we heard the explosions go off," Rob Slater a local runner said.

They're memories that will always be with them, but ones that won't stop them from training hard and taking the trip back to Boston.

More than a dozen local people from Second Sole have qualified.  Those runners will wear special gear, made in Boston Marathon colors.

"It's been a year there's bee a lot to process," Slater said.  "There's a lot of emotion and excitement too."

This years marathon is Monday April 21st.
