Mud Hens honor Toledo firefighters at season opener

Posted: Updated:

The Toledo Mud Hens kicked off their 13th season Friday night in a game against the Louisville Bats at Fifth Third Field Friday night, and they honored two Toledo firefighters killed in the line of duty in a special pre-game ceremony

Privates Jamie Dickman and Steven Machcinski died while battling an apartment fire in January. The hens paid tribute to the men during the team's opening ceremonies.

"The entire event is a great honor for us. The support we have been receiving has not stopped," he says. "To have the Mud Hens step and ask us to be a part of opening day is very humble and very appreciated."
