Toledo Zoo hosts Soar & Explore event

The Toledo Zoo is hosting "Soar & Explore" this weekend at the Zoo. It's free with regular zoo admission and gives visitors a chance to learn about all things related to flight.

A full list of the events happening this weekend are listed below.

Saturday, April 5

11 a.m.  Science of Animals and Flight, Indoor Theatre, Museum of Science
• Sponsored by BP

12-2 p.m.  Michael Roy's Cirque du Papier Origami Demonstrations, Museum of Science

1 p.m.  Zap Entertainment presents Fizz Bang Boom the Magic of Flight, Indoor Theatre, Museum of Science

2 p.m.  Raptor Demo, Nature's Neighborhood - Jumpin' Junction

3 p.m.  Spider Feed & Talk, Nature's Neighborhood Forest Room

3:30 p.m.  Bird Feed, Nature's Neighborhood Forest Room

Activities taking place in Nature's Neighborhood on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
• Water rocket demos in the Backyard
• Bird enrichment projects in the Workshop
• Discover flight through activities and crafts utilizing paper airplanes, mini-helicopters, recycled kites, bubbles and more!

Other activities include:
• Master Kite flying demonstrations taking place in our Africa! exhibit
• Toledo Public Schools Aviation School will be on hand with displays and a real flight simulator
• Challenger Learning Center will be out with dynamic Interactive Flight Specialists and plenty of rocket science
• Weak Signals remote control airplane displays
• And on Sunday, Imagination Station will be here to help you discover the four forces of flight:  lift, drag, thrust, and gravity.  Visitors can design hoop gliders, copters and more while they discover how changing their designs will affect flight.
