Mom's roommate says she fatally injured baby son

Posted: Updated:

Amanda Bacon's roommate, the man she allegedly traded sexual favors for rent, took the stand to say she was the one who fatally injured her young son.

Frank Jones testified that he walked into the apartment and saw the baby leaving Bacon's hands. He says he grabbed the baby from Bacon.

Bacon is accused of fracturing her son's skull in two places.  Her defense team says Jones hurt the baby.

The prosecutor showed him the pajamas that baby Avery Bacon was wearing the night he died. Jones says he came home and heard screaming. He says he took the injured baby from Bacon and she ran off.

Another man, Percy Pegues, testified that he picked Bacon up and they went to a hotel to have sex.

He told the court, "She said her baby had a cold and her sister was going to take her to the hospital. I asked her why don't you go with your sister and take the baby to the hospital? She said it's nothing major."

Bacon showed no emotion as prosecutors questioned Jones.  He testified that the baby was quiet when he took it to the store to purchase food. He said he noticed little Avery's head was swollen and called Amanda to get home.

The defense asked why Jones failed to call 911. Jones said he regretted that decision and admitted he initially lied to detective during an interview.

Testimony continues on Friday.
