Coroner says Baby Avery suffered "catastrophic" impact

Posted: Updated:

The trial of Amanda Bacon continued on Friday. She's accused of bashing her 5-month-old son's head on a hard surface in December of 2012 causing injuries that lead to his death.

The prosecution presented cell phone evidence in court and the coroner took the stand to describe the baby's injuries.

He testified the baby had bruises to his lower back and a skull fracture from a whiplash motion when his head was bashed.

"I believe the impact was so catastrophic to cause these injuries that after receiving these injuries the child would have been unconscious."

Prosecutors say they will question their last witness on Monday.
