419 Day celebrated on social media

Posted: Updated:
Saturday was April 19 or 4-19 and locals thought this was the perfect day to celebrate businesses in the 419 area code in person and on social media.

A local Instagram photography group celebrated by taking photos with the hashtag #419 and in downtown Toledo, businesses were using the day to show off products made here in the 419.

Jada Clingo of the Humble Bee Family Farm keeps bees and makes spa products. "Being from Toledo, I think it is really important that we celebrate our makers and our doers. It really boosts the local economy. I think it will help keep younger people, college students, in the area."

Don Dibartolomeo, director of The Right Direction program out Bowling Green took part as well. His group uses action sports like bike racing, jumping and skating to teach kids life skills. Members showed off their extreme sport skills in the parking lot of the City Paper.

"Its nice because our kids do a lot to give back to the community and our program is all about making a bigger footprint. So to come back in to do something to help celebrate Toledo and its day is a great thing."

Instagram photographers were encouraged to go to the Toledo Museum of Art, restaurants and local art galleries and show off those images to the world by posting them.

You can check the photos of 419 day by searching for igers_toledo on Instagram or the hashtag #419
