National Drug Take-Back Day

Posted: Updated:
On April 26th, the Drug Enforcement Administration offers Ohioans a chance to dispose of unwanted and expired medications during the eighth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Help from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the event allows Ohioans to drop off expired or unused prescription medications. The DEA has coordinated with a number of Ohio law enforcement agencies, which must be present to accept controlled substances, to make the event possible.

"A recent survey found that four in ten teens who have misused or abused a prescription drug obtained it from their parent's medicine cabinet," says Ohio State Board of Pharmacy Executive Director Kyle Parker.

In addition to offering free, anonymous, and convenient disposal, the Take-Back Day also educated the public about how mediations can be misused and abused. To locate an Ohio drop off site nearest you, please visit: http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html .
