Men’s Golf Closes Season at Bill Gettig Invitational

Lourdes University’s men’s golf team wrapped up the 2013-2014 season on Saturday afternoon with a ninth place finish at the Bill Gettig Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.

The Gray Wolves posted a team score of 332, just five shots behind Siena Heights “B” team.  Siena Heights won the event overall with a score of 293, eight strokes ahead of host Trine.

Ben Torchia (Sylvania, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.) led the way for the Gray Wolves, firing an 81 on the 6,384-yard, par-70 layout.  He finished in a tie for 27th place overall.  Brandon Henry (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) shot an 82 while Kevin Ritzenthaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) carded an 83 as both players finished just behind Torchia.

Jacob VanDyke (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) fired an 86 to round out the Lourdes scorers while Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) closed out the lineup with a round of 88 for the afternoon. 

Tim Combs of Siena Heights and Jordan Juday of Adrian shared medalist honors with one-over par rounds of 71.
