Women's Golf Takes 3rd at GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay women's golf team came away with a third place finish at the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship, which concluded on Sunday, April 27 at the Winding Hollow Golf Club in New Albany, Ohio.

The Oilers shot a 316 on the final day of competition and finished the tournament with a three-round score of 979 (332, 331, 316).  They finished three strokes behind Ferris State University (976) while Grand Valley State University won the tournament with a 943.

Shelby Warner led Findlay and tied for third at the event with a three-round total of 234.  She carded a 78 in the first round, came back with an 82 in the second and finished the tournament with a two-over par score of 74 in the final round.

In her final round, Warner birdied the third hole and also recorded birdies on 10 and 15.

Brooke Albers recorded a top-10 finish for the Oilers as well after carding a score of 243. Albers, who tied for tenth at the event, shot an 81 in the opening round, an 83 in the second and a 79 in the third.

Ablers recorded three birdies as well, shooting one-under par on holes 9, 11 and 13.

Michele Schambs placed 17th with a 250 (91, 79, 80), Kasey Petty tied for 20th with a 252 (82, 87, 83) and Taylor Tweed finished 46th with a 298 (109, 97, 92).
