Long range outlook shows more storms

Posted: Updated:
This week brought the first severe weather outbreaks of the year across the country. Now that intense storm is weakening and has become a cut-off low which means the storm is cut off from the main jet stream. As a result it will spin around for a while bringing the occasional shower and lots of afternoon clouds. Temperatures will cool down as we head into the first week of May. However, the second week of May looks a lot more interesting.

The weather pattern for the second week of May (7th through the 14th) is showing a much more favorable pattern for active weather including rain, storms and perhaps even severe weather from the southern Plains into the Midwest and Great Lakes. Colder than normal weather is expected across the upper Midwest and Great Lakes while above normal temperatures are expected across the southern Great Lakes south and west towards the Plains. While it is tough to forecast fine details this far away, the overall weather pattern is suggesting lots of classic spring storms and warmth during the second week of May.
