Growing season should start soon

Posted: Updated:
Early May feels more like late March so far, but overnight lows have been above freezing and the trees are finally starting to leaf out. The last average frost and freeze around northwest Ohio varies by a few weeks depending on location and weather patterns. The warmest overnight low temperatures are normally near the lake-shore. The last average freeze date near the Lake Erie shore is typically in late April. Areas west of I-75 typically have an overnight low at or below freezing in early May. The last patchy frost in Toledo is around May 10th on a normal year. The latest freeze on record was on June 11, 1972.
