Eric Schmidt Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Junior pitcher Eric Schmidt (Blissfield, Mich.) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the 2014 season based on his performance in the classroom and on the field. Schmidt is studying physical education and has a 3.7 grade point average while being the ace of the pitching staff for most of the season. Schmidt has posted a 7-0 record this year to go with a 3.09 earned run average. He has thrown 55.1 innings and allowed 19 earned runs while walking 22 and striking out 47. He has been sharp to the tune of allowing two or fewer earned runs in six starts this season.
Schmidt currently ranks 16th nationally in wins and leads the conference in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts. He has tossed a pair of shutouts this season with a seven-inning outing at Transylvania (10-0) on Mar. 9 and a four-hit blanking of Albion on Mar. 21. He has already established himself as one of the greatest hurlers in Adrian history with a career record of 21-3 and a 2.97 earned run average in 31 appearances. He ranks tied for fifth in wins and sixth in earned run average.
