Free Comic Book Day brings out fans

Posted: Updated:
Saturday was a good day for comic book fans in Toledo and around the country.

It was the 12th annual Free Comic Book Day, which is celebrated the first Saturday in May.  Several local comic stores took part, offering a special selection of free comic books to visitors to the store.

The goal is to bring new readers into the stores.  Fans were lined up the length of the shopping center at South Toledo's Monarch Cards and Comics. The store saw over 800 visitors and ran out of free comic books for the first time ever.

You can learn more about Free Comic Book Day at the Free Comic Book Day website.
