Central Michigan jumped on Toledo for six runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 10-4 triumph over the Rockets on Sunday afternoon at Theunissen Stadium.

The loss drops Toledo’s record to 18-27 overall and 9-12 in Mid-American Conference play, while CMU improve to 29-19 overall and 14-7 in league action.

Sophomore 1B Tyler Baar paced UT’s 12-hit attack with three hits with junior LF Dan Zuchowski (2-of-3, 1 R), sophomore RF Ryan Callahan (2-of-4, 1 R, 1 RBI) and sophomore 3B John Martilotta (2-of-5, 1 R, 1 2B) each collecting three hits.

Junior LHP Matt Trowbridge picked up the victory for CMU with 3.2 innings of hitless relief. Trowbridge entered the game in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded and one out. He allowed just one inherited runner to score and shut down the Rockets after that.

Toledo sophomore RHP Kyle Slack (3-6) was handed the loss after allowing five runs, walking five batters and getting just two outs in the first inning.

The Rockets out-hit the Chippewas by a 12-6 margin but were doomed by allowing 10 CMU batters to reach base via a walk.
