LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a truck crash and liquid asphalt spill have shut down a stretch of freeway in the Lansing area and sent two people to the hospital.
The crash early Monday forced officials to close eastbound Interstate 96 along with one westbound lane. Other area traffic is affected.
WLNS-TV and WWJ-AM report the tanker truck was carrying liquid asphalt when it rolled, spilling its load. The Ingham County sheriff's department says the truck's driver and another motorist were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital for treatment.
A person who answered the phone at a Michigan State Police office in the area said additional information wasn't immediately available.
