Northwest Ohio Girl Gets Bionic Arm

Posted: Updated:
19-year old Torri Biddle has a bionic arm!  Quite literally.  She has a birth defect that left her without her right forearm and hand.  Torri says she tried to never let anyone know it bothered her.  She even switched from Soccer to Basketball in high school at Liberty Center, so she could overcome the challenge of playing with one arm.  Yet during the summer she admits she'd often wear long sleeves to hide the missing arm that so many would stare at.

This past summer, Torri's friends decided they were going to start a twitter campaign to get her a new high tech prosthetic arm.  They got such an overwhelming show of support right off the bat, they were blown away.  And producers of the show "The Buried Life" caught wind, and decided to step into help. The show features four young men who make it their mission to help others achieve their "bucket list" type dreams.  It worked!  Torri and her best friend Cam, were flown to LA under the pretense of Torri getting a scholarship.  But the announcement was made on stage in front of "The Buried Life" cameras, that Tori was getting not one but two new high tech, bionic arms.  225-thousand dollars worth of prosthetic devices for free.

"It has changed my life", says Torri  I can move the arm with my upper arm muscles.  It can do pretty much anything I need! The story is so popular, that Torri says if her you tube story gets one-million hits, then someone else will get a free prosthetic arm too.  Torri is in her second semester at Northwest State Community College.  She's studying child psychology so she can help other kids facing the same issues she grew up dealing with.
