The Ohio State men’s golf team put together a 20-over 308 performance Thursday on the first day of competition at the NCAA Columbia Regional. With the first round in the books, the Buckeyes are tied for 12th place in the team standings.

Played on the par 72, 7,141-yard course at The Club at Old Hawthorne, the five lowest scores at the three-round regional will have the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship Finals. Oklahoma State currently holds onto the top spot on the leaderboard with a 16-under 272.

Leading the way for the Buckeyes was sophomore Tee-k Kelly, who carded a 2-over 74 for the day. Kelly ranks 30th in the individual standings.

With a 5-over 77, junior Boo Timko follows in 52nd place. Timko dropped in a birdie on the 15th hole. Freshman Addison Coll ended the round one stroke back from his Buckeye teammate with a 6-over 78. Coll scored under par on three holes to earn a 60th-place standing.

A pair of freshmen – Clark Engle and Frederik Hammer – rounded out the scoring effort for the Scarlet and Gray. Engle posted three birdies during a round of 7-over 79. He will begin in Round Two in 64th place. Hammer, meanwhile, was 8-over for 68th.
