The Lucas County Health Department says beef tainted with E. coli was sold to two Toledo restaurants.

So far, three people, ages 19, 23, and 42 have gotten sick.

A fourth person, who's 17 was also sick, but doctors are working to confirm whether it was because of the E. coli bacteria.

The cases are all linked to a massive ground beef recall in the region.

The tainted beef came from the Wolverine Packing company in Michigan, but was not distributed to area grocery stores.

The health department held a press conference Monday about how the recall is affecting our area.

"If we don't get any more cases, we'll feel confident that it's all gone," Dr. David Grossman, Toledo - Lucas County health commissioner told 13abc.

He says this strain of the bacteria is serious and can sometimes be deadly.

Symptoms include, severe cramps, vomiting and diarrhea, and are more severe in younger kids.

The names of the restaurants where the beef was found are not being released.

"If it was a factory issue, that factory is responsible," local resident Joel Shenk said.  "As long as the restaurant is handling it then that's fine."

Dr. Grossman says if you feel sicker than usual or have concerns, to see your doctor.
